This course deals with the honing of various aspects of the Holistic Personality. The course looks at the projection of the Personality to the outside world through effective communication, the ability to adapt to cohesively work with different personalities, and mind sets and cultivate a well - groomed exterior.
It also focuses on managing one’s wellness through self-awareness on their physical wellness, and the practice of a fitness program and regime. The students discover how all these aspects influence their present behaviour, their relationships, their communication and very importantly their confidence and attitude.
The PEP program is aligned to creating T shaped professionals and is about equipping students with a range of broad skills which are required for success in any profession. The curriculum has been completely designed based on the Industry needs which have been enumerated in the World Economic Forum Reports and from the NHRD reports as well as in the NHRD study with CXOs across the country. PEP is conducted in two tracks, Life skills and Lifestyle.
Life Skills: Projecting personality through sharpened communication skills, a well-groomed exterior, sharp negotiation skills and appropriate workplace etiquette.
Life Style: Practicing a fitness regime but also be aware of own level of fitness and other factors that contribute to wellness.
The Lifeskills Program: The Soft Skills imparted through this program help students to thrive in the corporate world and to take up any of the challenges. Training is given in these soft skills directly through the practice of topics relevant to Corporates such as Email Writing, Presentation skills, Simulated Business Meeting, Sales Pitch, Extempore Speaking to name a few., The methodology involves the understanding of the usage of global techniques of communication in speaking and writing, followed by practice, individual feedback, and constant performance monitoring of the students. This pedagogy has been extremely successful during placement processes like Group Discussion and Interviews and has helped the students of IFIM Business School (Now Jagdish Sheth School of Management) get recognized at the workplace. The program also has an integrated module on Aptitude skills to sharpen verbal and quantitative logical abilities as well as a Live Experience of planning, organizing executing an event and selling passes for IFIM’s flagship student driven event, Kanyathon, an annual marathon to Save the Girl Child. These vital soft developed resulted in a blockbuster Kanyathon 2020 with 7000 runners and a surplus fund of 23 lakhs.
The Lifestyle Active Program: Corporate need for new age jobs are employees who are fit as well as healthy and well so that they are productive assets and can meet the rigorous demands of tomorrow. Students through Lifestyle will be the custodian of their health and well-being and will be accountable for not just monitoring their fitness but will also advocate a strong self-awareness on aspects that contribute to physical wellness like nutrition, good sleep habits, a calm mind and to design their own personalized wellness program.
This aspect of the program comprises of a physical fitness program with emphasis on a customized fitness regime which helps inculcate self-discipline and a fit body. The Lifestyle program builds desired fitness levels around cardio, strength, flexibility, agility and endurance. The Lifestyle program continues to be a graded as a credit-based program with rounds of assessments against a plethora of Wellness parameters as well as a check on the Body Composition. The program involves various activities like Zumba, Aerobics, Gym, Games and Yoga. Tips on nutrition and mental wellness are also provided by experts on a regular basis. The program also conducts many inter house games competitions and encourages students to take part in sports competitions to build team spirit.

Get your “#IFIMSmart (PLQ**) Quotient” Score
The IFIMSmart (Professional Like Qualities – PLQ) Quotient measures the smartness quotient of students undergoing the Personality Enhancement Program at IFIM Standards. The parameters include #Looksmart which focusses on the way we dress and groom ourselves, how fit we are and how smart we carry ourselves. The parameter on #Communicatesmart measures the effectiveness with which we speak and write and the way we converse. The #Actsmart measures the extent to which we behave professionally and responsible and finally the #Logicsmart measures the extent to which we think logically and rationally and our ability to provide logical reasoning.
An Initial Diagnostic Assessment of the parameters are assessed during the Foundation Term and the Final Comprehensive Assessment is conducted at the end of the 4th Term. The improvement of the Quotient is tracked through each term and students are given a clear idea on how to improve their Quotient thereby achieving a Smart Personality. The Life Skills Pedagogy
The pedagogy of the Life skills program is one of the key reasons why the program is very popular with the students. The methodology involves the understanding of the usage of global techniques of communication in speaking and writing, followed by lots of practice, one on one feedback and constant individual performance monitoring. This pedagogy has been extremely successful at placement processes like Group Discussion and Interviews, has helped our students get recognized at the workplace and helped in performance as told to us by our interning students and our alumni.
The student will be involved in the classroom, on the field, in the gym and in fitness events and activities to develop the skills necessary to measure their own fitness and practice fitness through an established regime. The program has Fitness through strength which comprises of Gym and Functional Training, Fitness through Sports like football, volleyball, throwball and handball, Fitness through Yoga and Fitness through group sessions like Zumba, Aerobics and Step Aerobics. The students must clock in a practice session three times a week with trainers to build in the discipline of looking after their bodies and do graded fitness assessments to determine their level of fitness.
Students will be using a Smart Digital Watch which will at a glance give them an update on all their Wellness markers like heart rate, calories burnt, sleep pattern, hydration, BCA, stress levels, individualized exercise program fitness levels amongst a few.
Our assessments are broken up into various parameters based on established ingredients that contribute to shaping communication skills. Knowing your scores for individual areas give the students a clear understanding of the focus areas, their areas of strengths as well as areas of improvement. An example is given below.

As part of the Lifestyle Assessments each participant will have to undergo a Push Up Test. The Test measures the upper body muscle strength and endurance.
Sit Up Tests
This test helps to measure the strength of the abdominal muscles and endurance. They use your body weight to strengthen and tone the core-stabilizing abdominal muscles.
Sit & Reach Test
This test measures the flexibility of each student in a short space of time. The student sits and reaches forward moving a scale along the length of the board.
This test measures the speed as well as the endurance which is extremely crucial for a healthy lifestyle. Regular running or jogging offers many health benefits to strengthen muscles, improve cardiovascular fitness, burn plenty of kilojoules and helps maintain a healthy weight.
A BCA (body composition analysis, is the process of examining the human body to determine the percentage of body fat compared to muscle tissue, There’s more to being healthy than losing weight—there are also important factors like increasing physical activity and improving your ratio of muscle to fat.

Term 1 - Business Communication
The course focuses on Business Writing skills like conciseness and clarity. The course also provides students with skills to engage with audience in Presentation skills, to present data to display analytical abilities, to develop interactive skills through Virtual Business Meetings and to connect through Social Media. The course also enables students in discovering Leadership qualities for a 20th century inclusive style and develop teamwork skills through group activities. Term 1 also begins the tracking of speaking, writing quality and professional behavior via the Logbook with inputs from all faculties and an individual behavior scale being mapped.
Term 2 - Cross Cultural Communication
The course introduces Erin Mayer’s Culture Map for effective cross cultural communication knowledge required to decode culture of different regions, to build strategies to communicate and ways to adapt one’s own style, in order to collaborate with these regions in a business setting. Adaptive communication skills are honed through simulated business meetings role plays covering business situations. This course also has a component of directed learning of Aptitude skills through rigorous practice from placement style tests.
Term 2 also continues with behavior mapping and close monitoring of communication quality across subjects via the digital behavior tracker and log book. Kanyathon effort is also tracked through the term where every student has to put in constructive effort to plan, organize and execute various functions towards the upcoming event.
Term 3 – Negotiation Skills
This course is designed to make the students great negotiators so that they learn to be persuasive and convincing through a courteous and constructive interaction that develops into a win – win solution for both the parties and to develop approaches to foster goodwill, regardless of the difference. The curriculum has a selling exercise module where students will use their persuasive skills and selling techniques in a real-life sales situation.
Students will be involved in real time sales project and their effort and performance will be monitored and assessed on a continuous basis. The course also continues to hone Aptitude skills to help build confidence of students through rigorous practice from placement style tests and students will also continue with their organizing and executing work on the Kanyathon event in their Committees and will continue developing leadership and team work skills.
Term 4 – Professional Development
Placement Skills aims at empowering students with skills and practice for various selection processes like Resume Writing, Group Discussion, Personal Interviews. It implies the ability to be proficient in job winning skills such as an effective and an eye-catching Resume, the ability to convey views confidently and convincingly in a Group Discussion, display leadership skills coupled with diplomacy and tact, and the ability to face a job interview with confidence and conviction. These attributes not only make an individual a winner at every job opportunity but also makes sure they are continuously employable. The ability to convey one’s Knowledge, Skills and Attitude confidently, aptly and with conviction is the essence of this course. The capstone activity at the end of this course is a series of Mock Group Discussions and Personal Interviews where students present themselves to corporate recruiters and gain valuable tips to improve their skills for the Placement season.
This course ties in with Self Awareness and Self Development of Wellness which has emerged as an Industry need in the NHRD report. The course is built around inculcating self - discipline and fitness standards and awareness on Wellness. The course runs through all terms where a customized program is worked out for each student. The program involves a certain number of sessions where fitness is practiced across a variety of activities like yoga, Zumba, games, gym, running and fitness exercises. A series of assessments to test cardio, strength, endurance, flexibility and agility will be conducted in each term against objective fitness standards. Progress across terms will also be assessed and graded. Expert guest lectures on fitness, mental wellness and nutrition will be carried out and participation in co- curricular activities like house competitions and inter collegiate competitions will also be counted in grades.
